Rihanna Gonna Bring Jamaican Dance Hall to Music Video ‘Rude Boy’

Rihanna recently opened up what’s to come for her forthcoming music video which is aimed to support single “Rude Boy”. While people speculated that it would be similar to her other raunchy videos for the previous “Rated R” singles, the Barbadian songstress herself assured fans it will be different.

“[It's] completely different from any other video I’ve shot before,” she told Carson Daly on his Amp Radio show. “A lot of my videos are really dark and edgy and tough. ‘Rude Boy’ is more playing along the lines from my roots.”

“We used a lot of color, but also the costumes were very Jamaican dance-hall queen type,” she added. The video is directed by Melina Matsoukas and reportedly will be premiered in early February.

Toni Braxton debuts new single ‘Yesterday’

After four years in hiatus, Toni Braxton finally comes back to music scene with a brand new song titled “Yesterday”. The track is rumored to be the first single from her upcoming studio album which is called “Pulse” and will be dropped sometime in February 2010.

During a press conference at 2009 Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica earlier this year, Toni opened up about what to expect from her new effort stating, “For my new album … I’m doing some dance things in there a little bit. Hopefully I can add some great collaborations with some Jamaican artists.” She added, “We’re gonna have the classic Toni’s of course, as they call it the ‘baby making music’, but we’re gonna do some dancehall things in there as well.”

In another occasion, Toni revealed that she has worked with Sean Paul and Shaggy for the new record. “It’s a lot of traditional stuff on the album, but I think people are going to be surprised ’cause I switched it a little bit, doing different things. I think I’ve reinvented [myself],” she explained her decision to change her music direction.

The dutch reggae artists Benaissa and R&b artist LLoyd de Meza headed out to Jamaica a couple of weeks ago to do their big show on King Chezidek’s Rising Sun Fest!!.The singing stars left a big mark on Jamaica because musically they did’nt know we existed.

Sean Kingston adds Jamaican flavor to Rihanna’s new studio Album

Sean Kingston has confirmed that he is involved in the making of Rihanna’s new studio album. For this project, he works with singer/producer Daddy Yankee and will bring Jamaican flavor the new material.

“Me and my producer Yankee, we cooking up some stuff,” Sean told Rap-Up. “Her people said we want some stuff for Rihanna ’cause I’m from Jamaica. I got the island feel, so I’m writing some stuff right now for her new album.”

In further statement, Sean explains why he is keen to make music for Rihanna. “You know what I like about her? She’s never changed. Even when her music changed, she always represented for the Caribbean, always represented for Barbados,” he gushed.

“And that’s what Sean Kingston does. He represents for Jamaica. Anything I do, I always put Jamaica in there. You can’t leave where you’re coming from and I like that about her,” he continued. “Every time we see each other, we talk in our accent. She’s funny. She’s dope. I like her.”

Beside Sean Kingston, other musicians who are rumored to make contribution to Rihanna’s new album include The All-American Rejects’ vocalist Tyson Ritter, The-Dream, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Kanye West, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Soulja Boy, Shontelle and Pharrell Williams. Other details about the record are still under tight wraps.
